
All the major thoroughfares entering Smithtown are now welcoming drivers with the announcement of the Fire Department’s 100th Anniversary.
On Saturday, September 6th the Department will hold a community wide celebration beginning on Main Street at 5:00pm. The festivities will include a parade, rides, entertainment food and fireworks.

The Smithtown Fire Department will hold a community wide celebration commemorating 100 years of dedicated service on Saturday, September 6, 2008.
The celebration will begin with a major parade down Main Street beginning at 5:00pm. Over 35 Fire Departments will march with firefighters traveling from as far away as central Pennsylvania to join in the festivities. The parade will feature the Departments along with their fire apparatus and numerous marching bands.
The parade will begin at Route 111 and Main Street and continue to Town Hall.
After the parade the New York Avenue School on Main Street and New York Avenue will be turned into a virtual “fairgrounds” for family entertainment. The school property will house free rides, a concert by the popular band Big Shot and free hamburgers, hotdogs and soda.
The celebration will culminate with a spectacular aerial display of fireworks sponsored by the Bank of Smithtown and preformed by Bay Fireworks. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15pm.

The Smithtown Fire Department is celebrating their 100th Anniversary in 2008. The original Department flag still hangs in the main house meeting room.

All Smithtown Fire Department fire, rescue and fire medic apparatus now feature 100th Anniversary decals on the vehicles.

The Smithtown Fire Department held a 100th Anniversary celebration on Saturday evening, March 8th. Over 275 members and guests were in attendance.
The celebration, held at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook, featured remarks by Chief of Department Thomas Duckham and a video retrospective of the Departments 100 years of dedicated service to the community.

The Smithtown Fire Department 100th Anniversary committee meets every two weeks to discuss and implement plans for the yearlong celebration. 2008 marks a century of dedicated fire and EMS service provided to the residents of Smithtown.
The highlight of the 100th will come on Saturday, September 6th when the Department salutes the community with a fire parade down Main Street followed by a continuation of the festivities at the New York Avenue School field. At the field will be free rides, entertainment and food culminating with a huge fireworks display.
