At 2:26 (2:26am) on June 28, the Smithtown Fire Department toned out a 16/23 Ambulance requested/Motor Vehicle Accident for a two car accident at the intersection of Route’s 111 and 347.
Upon arrival EMS 4-2-80 viewed a two car accident involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a taxi cab. Each vehicle had two occupants. The driver of the Jeep was pinned and required heavy rescue to release him from the vehicle.
Chief 4-2-33 (Sisino) was in command. Responding to the alarm were Engines 4-2-1 and 4-2-4, Rescue 4-2-9, Ambulances 4-2-61 and 4-2-64 and a mutual aid ambulance from CI-Hauppauge.
Rescue 4-2-9 gained entry to the entrapped driver. Ambulance’s 4-2-61 and 6-2-64 transported patients to the Stony Brook University Medical Center while CI – Hauppauge transported to St. Catherine of Sienna.
This call was the Smithtown Fire Department’s 1600th alarm of 2008.
